AYSO United: 15U Girls tryouts on June 3rd

To all Hillsborough AYSO girls born in 2003 and later:

As many of you know, last year Hillsborough AYSO adopted its first year round Select program for higher level soccer players. Starting last Spring, with a 12U Girls team, the program has now grown to involve both boys and girls Select teams playing in the Fall Select league (BAFSL) and the Spring Select league (PCSSL), in addition to our traditional Winter Select teams.

Hillsborough is now prepared to take the next step, and is planning to send its first team to the AYSO UNITED program. That program allows teams to play in "club" leagues (CYSA or NORCAL) under the AYSO banner, utilizing the six AYSO philosophies. This option will afford select players an opportunity to train and play at an even higher level, but all within the framework of the six AYSO philosophies. Included in the coaching protocol would be minimum of 30 sessions with a professional soccer trainer. Players would receive, and make,  a one year commit to the team, and would play in both Fall and Spring leagues.

The team will go as a 15U team, meaning that anyone born in 2003 is eligible, and anyone born before then could be eligible if invited to "play up." There is currently a core group of players playing in the PCSSL under the name Hillsborough United that will form the nucleus of this new effort. But all players must try out for, and be invited to join, the team.

For those interested in this option, there will be a TRYOUT on June 3rd at 3:00 p.m. at the West School field. Evaluators will include the head coach, the Sectional Director of Development for the UNITED program, and an upper level coach designated by the Regional Commissioner.

The team will be selected on the basis of performance at the tryout, player ratings from last Fall, coach recommendations, and demonstrated commitment to playing soccer at this level.

Selection to the team will require a commitment to attend practices, 90% of the league matches, and as many as two tournaments in the Fall, with a corresponding commitment to the Spring season. In return, the players will have an opportunity to play at a highly competitive level, will be coached by experienced coaches, and will receive supplemental training from paid professional trainers.

To reserve a spot in the tryout, or if your favorite player is not available for the tryout but still wants to be considered, please contact coach George Butterworth at [email protected].
