Registration for Fall

Registration for our 2020 Fall season is "on hold" during California's Shelter-in-Place; please check back after May 7

All registration will be completed through this web site. Registration generally takes place from April to June but is currently postponed due to the COVID-19 emergency. We are waiting for an update on California's Shelter-in-Place and will post more information by May 7.

Hillsborough AYSO does not guarantee placement of your child on any particular team, with any specific players, or on any particular practice days.

New players to our region (including all 5U players) need to provide government verification of birth (such as a birth certificate or passport) via email to [email protected] or snail mail to our mailing address at the bottom of the screen).

The fee for registration is $220 for U8 players and above until May 31st at 11:59 pm (PST). Beginning June 1st, the late registration fee is $300. The fee for players in the U5 and U6 divisions $180 until those divisions fill.

Credit card is the only payment form we accept.

VIP Fees: The registration fee for VIP (special needs) is $50.

No Buddy Requests: Because team balance is a core AYSO principle, we do not accept buddy requests (i.e., requests for friends to play on the same team).

Wait Lists: All registrations are accepted subject to team availability. Once a division is fully subscribed, additional applications will be placed on a wait list.

Refunds:  The National AYSO office's membership fee ($25.00) is non-refundable. Full refunds, minus the National AYSO's non-refundable $20.00 fee, are available until July 14, 2020. NO REFUNDS ARE AVAILABLE AFTER JULY  14, 2020.  Requests for refunds should be directed to [email protected].

Welcome to the 2020 season!

Division Placement

The 5U division is co-ed.  All other age divisions are divided into two groups (boys and girls). Team sizes may vary when teams are formed depending on player headcount and availability of coaches.  Players have grouped into divisions according to their birth year since 2017.  Divisions have different numbers of players on a team ("Team Size" in the table below) and different numbers of players on the field during a game ("Game Size" in the table below.)

Birth Year Division Game Size Team Size
2016 5U (Jamboree) (Jamboree)
2015 6U 6 v 6 8
2014 8U 6 v 6 8-9
2012 10U 7 v 7 9-10
2010 12U 9 v 9 14-15
2008 14U 11 v 11 14-18
2006 16U 11 v 11 14-18
2004 19U 11 v 11 14-18

Requests for players to play in a higher (older) division or to play down in a lower (younger) division must be submitted to [email protected].  These requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Please email this request and include justification along with the child's height, weight, relative speed and aggressiveness compared to his or her peers.  Play-Up / Play-Down requests will be considered only if space is available in the requested age division.

Upper Division Conduct Policy

Players are required to demonstrate good sporting behavior at all AYSO events.  This includes practices as well as games.  In recent years we have seen a growing incidence of unacceptable conduct in the upper divisions, for example: use of profanity or epithets, taunting another team when Hillsborough is far ahead in score, and persistent disruption at practices.  To address this issue, the Hillsborough AYSO Board has approved the following measures which will begin for the Fall 2017 season.  These measures are intended to ensure that all AYSO participants have the chance to enjoy soccer in a positive sporting environment.

For the 16U and 19U divisions, draft team rosters will be subject to review and approval by a committee of the Hillsborough AYSO Board.  Players who have demonstrated recurrent unacceptable conduct will not be invited to play and will have their registration fees refunded.

For all 14U, 16U and 19U divisions, the following sanctions for unacceptable conduct will be implemented:

  • Coaches should remind players that participation in AYSO is a privilege, not an entitlement.
  • Any player who receives a yellow card related to unacceptable conduct will be required to sit a game before being allowed to play again.  To satisfy this requirement the player must attend one game and remain on the bench for the entire game.  Attendance must be noted by the referee on the game card.
  • Any player who receives a red card related to unacceptable conduct will be suspended immediately and not permitted to play unless approved by the Regional Commissioner.
  • Coaches are required to report persistently disruptive behavior or unacceptable conduct at practices to the Regional Commissioner.  The Regional Commissioner may suspend offending players.
